Haiti: hope and a future

Children from Bouyaha often had to walk far and cross a big river in order to attend school in the main town.

Over the weeks to come we will be looking at opportunities for you to be a part of the stories of God's transformation that we share each week that are featured in 2014 gift catalog.

The village of Bouyaha is located about 12 miles, NW of the town of Pignon, Haiti where NMSI missionaries, Mioche and Rosie Rock, reside. The village has a population of 10,000-12,000 people. Children from Bouyaha often had to walk far and cross a big river in order to attend school in the main town. This was a big problem for many parents because there was no school in their own village at the time.

Mioche and Rosie started the Bouyaha Christian School in 2002 in response to the need for quality education that was physically accessible to the students. Currently the school has 255 students enrolled from kindergarten to 6th grade and is under construction after working under a metal roof tent for more than 11 years. They are in the process of finishing the construction of seven classrooms along with an administrative wing for the principal's office, a computer room, storage room, and a security guard room. They also need a new sanitary block, a fence and a new gate.

The students at Bouyaha Christian School receive a hot lunch and are learning about God's love for them every day. The school is transforming this community and the future for the people of Bouyaha. The estimated cost for the completion of the school construction and remaining needs is approximately $30,000. Will you join with us, giving glory to our Father in Heaven for the work He is doing in Bouyaha? And, if you are willing and able, would you invest in the future in Haiti?
