Build a church

t is well known that a church is not just a building but also a community of people that gather within it.

Over the weeks to come we will be looking at opportunities for you to be a part of the stories of God's transformation that we share each week that are featured in 2014 gift catalog.

It is well known that a church is not just a building but also a community of people that gather within it. But it is also known that a church building can be a place of fellowship, warmth, and comfort. There is a great joy in having a place to worship that is both a place for the community to assemble and also be sent out.

You may remember Shurya, who began attending a cell group at La Iglesia Cristiana El Jubileo (Jubilee Christian Church) in Pachuca, Mexico last year while she was struggling in a bad relationship and six months pregnant. She remembered attending a church with her grandmother as a young girl and that memory helped her to realize that only God could give her peace and help her in her struggles. In time, Shurya surrendered her life to God in baptism.

This story is repeated 30-40 times a year at Jubilee as individuals and families are baptized into Christ. This church plant has purchased the land and now has plans for a 400-seat auditorium. The building will also house classrooms for children and for adult courses in leadership development. It will also contain a coffee shop for people to gather and connect, along with a Christian bookstore that will house one of the very few sources for Christian materials in the city of over a million people.

With almost 85% of the total costs already raised, we invite you to help bridge the gap of the final amount for this growing congregation of transformed lives in Pachuca, Mexico. $475 can provide a square meter of the building and $45 can provide a square foot.
