Dan grew up around New York City and attended college in upstate New York. One day in a living room in Zimbabwe, God brought all the disparate pieces of his life thus far together in one clear calling: reaching out to farmers with the love of Christ and improved farming methods. Shortly thereafter Dan was led to a ministry that beautifully united these two goals: Farming God's Way, which has since changed its name to Foundations for Farming.
Mary is from Virginia and attended Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee. Mary's first experience with New International was as a 2003 summer intern to Malawi, Africa, where God confirmed His call to missions. In May 2004, she joined the home office staff at the Center for Global Outreach (CGO) as the Director of Summer Internships. She served in the Short-term Ministries Division for four and a half years.
Dan and Mary met in 2007 at New International's home office and were married in 2008. They served in Zimbabwe for two years with Foundations for Farming and for a year in Zambia with a related ministry.
After a 3-year season of service, life and work in Mary's hometown, they are answered God's call to return to Zambia. They serve with the Zambian extension of Foundations for Farming called Foundations Zambia. Dan's role is focused on teaching, mentoring, discipling, and expanding varieties of crops and appropriate methods. Mary's role is in hosting short-term teams and administration for Foundations Zambia.
