In Narok, Kenya, alcohol and drug addiction have become a devastating crisis, deeply affecting families, youth, and the overall fabric of the community. Alarming reports indicate that up to 25% of the adult population is struggling with alcohol or gambling or other addictions. Drug abuse—particularly among the youth—is escalating at a fast, troubling rate. This epidemic has not only contributed to rising levels of poverty and broken homes, but it has also hindered educational and economic progress in the region. With limited access to treatment and support services, many individuals find themselves trapped in a cycle of addiction with no clear path to recovery.
In response to this urgent need, an initiative has been launched to build a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center on 11 acres of land generously donated for this cause. The vision is to create a safe, facility where individuals can receive holistic treatment, counseling, and spiritual support, offering them a renewed chance at life. Once completed, the center will be operated by the Catholic Diocese of Ngong, following the model found in other areas of Kenya, ensuring long-term sustainability. Using 12 step programs and a compassionate approach rooted in community values, the Narok Hope Rehabilitation Center will complement the recent beginning of AA and Al-anon meetings in Narok. To bring this life-saving project to reality, we are currently seeking to raise $120,000 for construction and setup costs. This center represents a beacon of hope for Narok—a place where healing can begin and lives can be transformed.
