Hopeless, scarred, and post-Christian. Once a vibrant nation of faith, Northern Ireland has seen many waves of people leave the church as a result of The Troubles in the late 20th century. Now the youth of Northern are growing up in a culture with hardened hearts and heavy hesitations toward the Christian faith.
I’m Austin Huskey, and I have answered God’s call to Northern Ireland. I will be serving in the Lecalle region, the same area where St. Patrick ministered and strengthened the churches centuries ago.I will be providing support to the youth workers there in an area where the harvest is plentiful but the workers are very few. I will serve in afterschool programs, community, and other gatherings of youth. We will be pioneering new ways to reach this generation of youth growing up in an area still healing from The Troubles that ravaged their nation years ago. Northern Ireland is Post-Christian, with large numbers of people leaving the church, turning their backs on Jesus in a nation once vibrant in the Christian faith. The youth there are struggling to see a source of hope – a reason to keep going. God has opened the door for me to serve through New International, a sending agency partnering with workers in Northern Ireland over the last decade. I cannot take part in this ministry without a village behind me, and I am grateful for the support God has brought into my life and ministry so far!
So many have already believed in me, having faith in the ministry God is doing through me.
However, I cannot take part in my trip until I’m fully funded, and I leave October 4th. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with me financially in this ministry, sending a worker to an area where the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few?
