For many Christians, church camps and retreats are places where the gospel takes root in their hearts, where their lives are given to Christ or commitments to serve God in ministry are made. 20 years ago, a small Christian camp and retreat center was founded in a restricted access country that is listed as 0% Evangelical Christian on Joshua Project. In this place a small fellowship of Christians is able to gather to be spiritually nurtured and worship together, as well as play and learn. This safe haven serves for Christians not only in the country it resides in, but for its entire region.
This camp has served the past 20 years well, as a place of safety and joy for believers in a hard cultural context. Now our workers there are looking into the next 20 years of impact in this region. The past two decades have come with wear and tear for the camp and has left the main building and grounds in the state of disrepair that time and usage bring. Updating the facilities, grounds, and technologies is a large undertaking, but necessary to keep the camp running. This has the potential to impact an entire region as Christians learn and grow and are then sent out to their homes to share the gospel with those in their lives.
