New lives in Pachuca

Starting a new year always leads me to evaluate the past year and look forward to what God has in store. At the beginning of December, my teammates and I held a two-day retreat to do exactly that. We saw how God's hand has been working in Pachuca thru La Iglesia Cristiana El Jubileo (Jubilee Christian Church) and set goals for 2014.

As I reflected on this past year, I remembered the many opportunities in which I had a front row seat to watch God make things new in peoples lives. Here are just two of the many examples:

Soon after I moved to Pachuca, Angeles and Nancy began attending El Jubileo. We became fast friends after making the connection that they had arrived back in Pachuca after living many years in London, Ontario, about two hours from Buffalo, my hometown! Nancy and I started meeting for discipleship and she decided to surrender her life to God in baptism in December.

Shurya started attending my cell group in August when she was six months pregnant. She was struggling in a bad relationship and frustrated with challenges she was facing. As we studied together she told me of her experience as a young child attending church with her grandmother. She knew that only God could give her peace and help her in her struggles. In December, Shurya also decided to make Jesus her Lord and Savior!

Today, Jubilee Christian Church is raising a permanent building, and every year 30-40 new believers are baptized into Jesus Christ. Join in building the church by praying and giving.
