Elijah and Ellen married in June 2004 and joined New International in 2005. Elijah and Ellen share a strong calling to minister to street, needy children and their families in Narok, Kenya. Elijah started the ministry in 1999 after attending Professional Development Services with Banking and Accounting and later studied Community Based Project Planning and Management. Ellen graduated from Milligan College with a degree in Sociology in May 2003. Ellen has also been involved in the ministry since 1999.
In 1999, a short-term team from Southeast Christian Church, from Louisville, KY, visited Narok. They met Elijah while serving these needy children in town through meeting both of their physical and spiritual needs. The children had no place to stay and were living on the street. The Nasha Needy Street Children's Project Intl. (NASHA) was burdened for them but had no means of supporting them. A few faithful supporters began giving and NASHA began impacting and transforming the lives of these children and their families.
The ministry serves 250 children currently attending the school at the Christian Eminent Academy, and 130 through the sponsorship program. Food, clothing, training, sheltering and education are provided. They are encouraged to attend church, VBS camps and are involved in a behavioral rehabilitation program. The families have been helped to start small income generating programs that have been helping their economic growth. Our major goal is to mobilize churches and community leaders to transform their community for Christ as well as training local leaders and Sunday school teachers for effective children ministries.
