Well played, Holy Spirit

I knew God could do two of the three but could He really do all three?

I sat reading Janelle's text telling me we won the grant, and honestly, it was really hard for me to wrap my head around it. When I was attending Kentucky Christian University, I told God three things: I wanted to be a missionary, I wanted a business that gave back to missions, and I wanted to work with women coming out of human trafficking. I knew God could do two of the three but could He really do all three? Ten years later, I sit holding my phone in my right hand with my left covering my mouth that is now hanging wide open.

We won the grant. I read it over and over again. Honestly it was hard to read through tears but I just kept reading it. By winning this grant, we are able to have paid employment with women from a local ministry we have partnered with since we opened our doors. This ministry works with women coming out of trafficking.

I see the Spirit adding little check marks next to my prayer requests from so many years ago. I want to be a missionary - Hello NMSI - check. I want a business that gives back to missions - Hello Fig Leaf Boutique - check. I want to work with women coming out trafficking - Hello grant - check.

Well played, Holy Spirit. My mind slowed down enough to finally say “Thank You God. You have handed me my dream job and granted the journey here. I wouldn't have picked this for myself, but at this moment I wouldn't have it any other way."

The grant we won allows us to work side-by-side in the boutique, teaching and mentoring women who have been trafficked or exploited. Every week, we get to encourage, equip, and empower women who have been cast off and pushed aside. We now have a front row seat as God heals and restores these ladies and so do you.
