Paper Hearts

Team Middle East

Written by Mikaela - Working in the Middle East

"My heart has heard you say, 'come and talk with me.' And my heart responds, 'Lord, I am coming'". — Psalms 27:8

These past couple of weeks we have had kids’ camps at the library, and it’s been a blast and blessing to build relationships with kids and parents.

One day I was able to find time to sit and do my devotions and I was feeling exhausted from the camp activities. I was reading Psalm 27:8, and I felt so much peace being able to spend time with the Lord. I know I can always rely on the Lord for strength and, in the midst of the busyness, I can find time to just be with my Savior.

One of the evenings, I was doing crafts with refugee girls. One girl gave me a paper heart she made and said “thank you for being willing to talk to me”. She hugged me and left. I realized God had placed me here for a purpose to show love to people.

I want to be a great example of love to those around me here, even though my time is coming to an end. I want to be able to leave here knowing I showed love to those I met and to know that the Lord has used me this summer to learn, grow, and serve well. I am thankful for the friendships I have made and how the Lord has grown me and shaped me to be more like Jesus.

I can’t wait to see what all I get to do before I leave and how God will use me to grow His kingdom!
