What would you travel 70 miles for? A visit with a dear friend? Tickets for your favorite sports team? An amusement park?
What would you travel 70 miles for? A visit with a dear friend? Tickets for your favorite sports team? An amusement park? A really good slice of pie?
Many of us would do so. We would even be willing to leave at 2 am if that was what it took to get us to the thing we desired. But few of us would be willing to travel those 70 miles on foot, at least until we were able to hitch a ride in the bed of a truck. Fewer still would be willing to finish off the trip with two other friends, perched on the back of a motorcycle taxi. Few of us would find that very little that would motivate us to do like 5 others, leaving at 3 am and riding their bikes for 47 miles to get to where they were going, especially if the destination included 3 days of sitting outside on the ground from 8:30 in the morning until 8 at night, but that was exactly what 25 men in Malawi did recently.
They came for the opportunity to learn how to be church leaders. The seminar took place in the village of Kalenjeka in the Mangochi district near Lake Malawi. Through the ministry of NMSI missionaries, Rutherford and Tsahai Banda, five new churches were recently planted in this district as the result of showing The Jesus Film. Bob Kuest, traveling teacher with NMSI and the Malawi leadership training team taught lessons from Bob and Moses Thomas (from Zimbabwe)'s manual, Teaching Leadership.
The men were ecstatic about having their first ever leadership training to prepare them for correctly leading according to God's word. Bob remarked after, “See why we are humbled and constantly pray, 'Lord, don't let us blow this!'" Praise God for hungry and willing souls ready to transform lives in Malawi!
New International worked with the team at Kingery Design Co. and RIIPL to bring this brand, website, and app to life. It’s the collaborative effort of many people.
