Living in Answered Prayers

Team Thailand

Written by Allyson - Serving in Thailand

Every moment that I get to spend in Thailand is a tangible reminder of God’s faithfulness and how I get to live in an answered prayer of living overseas every day. Some of those moments recently include a weekly Bible study (where we made a meal together and got to share our testimonies with one another), hiking/exploring with some great friends, visiting markets, and learning to appreciate even more the people and beauty of Thailand!

One fun connection recently was from a friend that I did intern training with at New International in May of 2024. He connected me with his good friend from college who just so happens to be doing her student teaching here at Grace International School! We were then able to grab some lunch/coconut ice cream and explore some together. It’s both a big and small world, but cool that God is in all the details and I’m thankful that my friend thought to connect us. Every moment here is such a gift!

Year Two of Teaching

I started my second year of teaching Special Education in the RISE Classroom at Grace International School on August 6, and have been off to the races since then. Thankfully it was a gradual start with a 3-day week, a 4-day week, and then two 5-day weeks. It’s hard to believe that we’ve marked the start of September! This year, I have the same 3 students & teaching team as last year, which I am immensely grateful for — we are quite the diverse crew & I am learning something new each day.

One of my favorite parts of teaching so far this year has been facilitating peer groups and Sports Leaders for our “Fun Fridays.” Each Friday, we focus on life skills and often cook, do an art lesson of some sort. Sports leaders are Grade 11 or 12 students who come to our classroom to observe and then plan their own “Fun Friday” for us later on in the semester. I am really excited and encouraged to see how the students grow as leaders as they continue serving in our classroom! I pray that my students and their peers will get to know God’s heart and love for them through every interaction!
