The average age in Zambia is under 17. 85 percent of these youth make their living through agriculture and two-thirds do not have the opportunity to pursue secondary education.

YouthHOPE is working on the development of the Kamoto Youth Training Farm alongside Global Youth Worker Lloyd Ng'ambi. Through the training farm Zambian youth will be trained as Christian leaders, further their education, and generate revenue that will fund local youth ministry efforts. On April 10th, YouthHOPE hosted the 1st Annual Fundraising Gala and this year the Kamato farm was the beneficiary.

Project Coordinator Drew McClary had the chance to visit Zambia shortly after the Gala and here are some of his thoughts on his time there and the progress towards a training farm:

“It was with great joy that I walked with Lloyd through what took place on the night of the gala while he smiled back at me with his signature ear to ear grin. Together we made calls to encourage youth and youth leaders invested in the training farm and planned out the building of housing, a deep-water well, bathrooms, and a kitchen. The gala has been a catalyst for further excitement and a confirmation of the calling that God has placed in the hearts of Lloyd, Zambian youth, and youth leaders."
